You know…It’s been an excellent journey to share conversations on TRUST ME I KNOW WHAT I’m DOING and thank you so much for listening to this right now and sharing it with your friends and family, rating and reviewing and downloading wherever you find your podcasts, and for following us on social media @drabhaydandekar. I’m a true believer in finding ways to advocate for those who may be vulnerable, and certainly as a pediatrician, I’m grateful to do this everyday. Now on this podcast, one of the takeaways from listening to many guests, for me at least, has been the power of the written word and conversations and storytelling to be amazing vehicles to spotlight those who may not always have a voice and whose narrative may not always have a pathway to be uplifted. So I was particularly grateful to share some time chatting with Priya Arora, a queer, non-binary South Asian American journalist who is dedicated to uplifting the narratives of underrepresented communities. Their roles have been diverse, as a writer, editor, critic, and host - sharing from the vantage point of a South Asian American on a range of topics: from pop culture and entertainment across the diaspora and in South Asia, to offerings from the California experience, to vanguard perspectives from the LGBTQ+ and non-binary communities. Priya’s portfolio has included bylines at The New York Times, HuffPost, India.com, Brown Girl Magazine, The Juggernaut, and The Aerogram and prior service on the board of the South Asian Journalists Association. Their work is so authentically personal, reflecting on insights of their own journeys and experiences like the podcast they’ve hosted called Queering Desi, and writing interests that coalesce with that of so many, like Priya’s Kitty Party, a newsletter which reviews South Asian streaming content. Now, like me, Priya grew up around Los Angeles and spent some formative time in New York City and now is back in Southern California, so as we chatted about a range of things, I asked them to reflect a little on what it was like to be back home…

Thanks so much, Priya, and you can please check out more of their work at PriyaArora.com
And remember, please find a way to spread kindness, especially to each other and to our planet. Till next time, I’m Abhay Dandekar.
